Teams across the South Hams have been working at Slapton, Torcross and Beesands following the recent storms.

Officers have been assessing the damage and carrying out urgent repairs.

Strong winds and waves affected several locations, with surface erosion at the Memorial car park in Slapton and storm damage to Torcross toilet block and car park.

Our waste and street cleansing team have also helped residents with the clear up.

Torcross Tank toilets

These toilets were reopened on Thursday following electrical and drainage checks and a deep clean.

Roof repairs will be carried out in due course.

Torcross Tank car park

This will be partially opened at the weekend, but will be closed from Monday so further works can be carried out.

Memorial car park, Slapton

Our teams and contractors have been clearing debris and repairing around two metres of damaged surfacing.

We have also lost a number of telegraph poles which were fixed along the edge of the car park. Work is underway to refix the existing telegraph poles and we are working hard to find replacements for the others.

Memorial car park (northern end) will reopen this weekend, with access from Strete Gate and Slapton village only.

Beesands

The village green sea defence – previously damaged during Storms Goretti – has deteriorated more. There’s still parking near the seawall.

A379

We will continue to work in partnership with Devon County Council as they assess and repair the A379.
