Work is continuing on plans to improve key inland routes that could be used during any future closure of the A379. The aim is to make these routes safer and more resilient through a programme of new and improved passing places, together with better signage and road safety measures.
The Torcross Tank car park will close from Monday 7 September 2026 until June 2027 to allow the Environment Agency to use the site during essential works to the Torcross sea defences.
Dartmouth Lower Ferry introduced a new ticketing system on Monday 13th July. If you do not have an online account, you can still make payment on the day of travel on the ferry. Customers who don’t have an online account but hold ferry saver cards may still continue to use their old cards.

South Hams District have issued a warning to car park users that scanners are targeting car parks by sticking QR codes to parking machines and signs.
A379 Dartmouth Road will be closed from 6.30pm on 23rd June. The road is expected to re-open at 7am on 24th June.
