A379 Slapton Line – Petition
Caroline Voaden MP has launched an urgent petition to demonstrate the strength of public feeling around the future of the A379 Slapton Line and the protection of coastal communities at risk from erosion.
Published: 8 February 2026
Caroline has explained that the petition would be used directly in conversations with the government to underline the level of concern locally.
The petition states, ‘Accelerated coastal erosion in the villages of Torcross, Beesands and Hallsands are having a devastating impact on residents and businesses including significant damage to properties and the partial destruction of the A379 Slapton Line. This petition urges the government to support coastal communities affected by coastal erosion in Start Bay, including the villages of Torcross, Beesands and Hallsands, in the short and long term.’
Please show your support by signing the petition, which can be found here: Petition
The Parish Council thanks Caroline Voaden MP for her support and efforts with the urgent situation at Torcross and for her understanding of the devastating impact this has had on those in Torcross as well as the wider community.
