Culture: There will be a cultural change at county level. This will ensure that the Devon County Council (DCC) becomes more outward looking as there needs to be more partnership working. County hope to replicate what has been done by South Hams District Council (SHDC) so that everyone works together regardless of politics.
Children’s services: Ofsted report highlights that children’s services is failing and has been for the last 10 years. Cllr Brazil intends to take this portfolio as his own and believes that the new administration should be judged on children’s services.
Potholes: Somerset pay £60.00 per repair compared to Devon’s £180.00 per repair. The service is currently outsourced. Review of contract will ensure it is tightened and that there is better value for money. Ideally, would like to bring back in house but that is unlikely.
