A period of 10 days state mourning will take place from 9th September to Sunday 18th September 2022. Details of the funeral will follow on the royal website. www.royal.uk
During this period, the following arrangements are in place within the Parish:
- The Union Jack Flag will be flow at half-mast until the day after the funeral.
- A book of condolence will be placed in the lobby of the village hall between 8am and 6pm and in the Church from Sunday 11th September for you to pay your respects during their opening times. Please follow the Covid-19 safety guidelines at both venues.
- If residents would like to show their respects to HM Queen Elizabeth II:
- Flowers can be laid around the war memorial and against the wall in the churchyard and will also be laid from the Parish Council on behalf of the community. To ensure public safety, please take care not to place these onto the steps. Also please remove the cellophane wrapper before laying and dispose of this at home and not in the dog bin outside the church.
- You can donate to one of The Queen’s charities. You can find a list of charities here: www.royal.uk/her-majesty-the-queen.
- On the morning after the state funeral, the flowers will be removed and composted down; The compost will be used to plant a commemorative tree. A letter will also be sent to the Private Secretary at Buckingham Palace, advising that the books of condolence will be held in the Parish Council’s and Church archives.
- Condolence notices will be posted at the Village Shop and on the PC notice boards.
-
- The Church will announce details of any special services. Please check the church notice boards at the gates.
