Repair work is due to start on site today to initially set up a scaffold and start taking down wall and the connected outbuildings.
It is anticipated that the road will have to remain closed until the end of June. After which it will be left in a temporary arrangement while a design is prepared, and technical approvals agreed. The rebuild would then take place after the summer and will require another road closure.
DCC are aware of the impact that having the A379 closed at this point causes. It is hoped the speed of action is an indication that everyone involved is trying to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and the intended two phased repair is the best solution in trying to remove the closure for the summer period.
